Q: WHAT IS YOUTH RUSH?

A: Youth Rush is a summer canvassing program! We go door-to-door distributing Christian literature on a donation basis.

Q: WHO CAN JOIN?

A: Any male or female who is at least 16 years of age or older, who has a love for Jesus, and is willing to make a ten-week commitment to work hand and serve Jesus. If you are under 16 years old, but have canvassed before or have significant work experience, you may qualify for an exemption. For more details, contact us at youthrush@misda.org.

Q: HOW LONG IS YOUTH RUSH?

A: 10 weeks. It usually begins in early June and ends in mid-August.

Q: WHO ORGANIZES MICHIGAN YOUTH RUSH?

A: Youth Rush is a ministry of the Michigan Conference of Seventh-day Adventists.

Q: WHAT IS THE WEEKLY SCHEDULE?

A: We work Sunday–Thursday with Friday and Saturday off.

Q: WILL WE TAKE TIME OFF?

A: Yes. There is a “home leave” weekend in the middle of the summer.

Q: WILL WE ATTEND MICHIGAN CAMP-MEETING?

A: Yes. While Youth Rush won’t participate in camp-meeting during the week, we will attend the first weekend of camp-meeting over Friday and Sabbath.

Q: WHAT IF MY CLASSES HAVEN’T ENDED BY JUNE 1?

A: Exceptions are treated on a case-by-case basis. Make sure you specify this and what date your school ends on your application.

Q: MAY I REQUEST TO BE IN A CERTAIN PROGRAM/BE WITH MY FRIENDS?

A: Yes, students may request a to be in a certain location. However, because of the complexities of program balancing (gender, age, experience, territory, etc.), we cannot guarantee that each request will be granted. (Hint: Early applicants get their requests more often!)

Q: IF I RECRUIT MY FRIENDS TO SIGN UP, WILL I RECEIVE A REWARD OF SOME KIND?

A: Yes! You’ll receive a $100 bonus (in addition to your scholarship) for every new/first-time Youth Rush student you recruit who signs up, is accepted, and joins a program during the summer. Just make sure they enter your name in the referral section of the Youth Rush application

Q: HOW MUCH COMMISSION WILL I EARN?

A: Commission is 35%. At the end of the program, students who complete their pre-hire time commitment will receive an additional 15% retroactive commission bonus, which will equal 50%.

Q: WHAT ABOUT POCKET MONEY?

A: Students can elect to receive 5% of their donation on Fridays. However, this will reduce end -of-summer earnings which may be subject to the SDA school matching scholarship.

Q: HOW DO I GET A MATCHING SCHOLARSHIP?

A: Scholarships are matched by the educational institution you are attending. Contact your school for more details.

Q: HOW CAN I SHARE ABOUT YOUTH RUSH WITH MY FRIENDS?

A: If you live within the Lake Union, we can send someone from our team to your church, school, or Pathfinder club to run a Youth Rush vespers program for your youth group – food included! Just submit a vespers request here, and we’ll schedule a date/location that works for you!

(If you live outside the Lake Union, we’ll do our best to visit your youth group, but we handle requests on a case-by-case basis.)
